Another estate-grown stunner! Another estate-grown stunner from the legendary Coombsville AVA! The 2018 Southern Roots Cabernet Sauvignon leads with classic aromas of currant, eucalyptus/mint, licorice, black cherry, tobacco and cracked black pepper. Given its 30 months in 65% new French Oak with the remainder in neutral second and third-fill barrels, well integrated tannins provide structure and backbone, but are balanced with the bright beam of mocha and cedar-tinged California Cabernet fruit. This deeply garnet colored wine has great aging potential, but the wine is approachable now with flavors of bright boysenberry, cassis, fresh leather, brown sugar, and hints of classic cabernet notes of lead pencil and violets. The clean mouthfeel lingers through a long finish. Drink now though 2035.
